Ephorus of Cyme, a contemporary of Theopompus, who most likely passed away around 330 BC, was the author of the first universal history, known as "Common Affairs" (Koinai praxeis – Praxeis tas te ton Hellenon kai barbaron, ta kallous pasai hai kata ten Hellada kai barbaron praxeis).
The information provided by Ephorus about Thrace and the Thracians is briefly reviewed by Chr. Danov in DT 60-62, along with previous literature. Chr. Danov highlights the significance of five fragments (No. 157, 161, 162, 44, and 119) for Thracian history and geography.
The fragments are analyzed in the study accompanying the text-critical edition FGrHist II A 70, with commentary in II B. Their total number is 41.
